2013 Harvest Festival

Long ago, agricultural families in the Colonial Southeast and across America gathered every fall to give thanks and celebrate a bountiful Harvest season with a day of feasting, games, music and fun. To keep this spirited tradition alive, the Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission will host the 12th Annual Southern Eagle Harvest Fest at Mullet Hall Equestrian Center. 16th Annual Tour of Homes

For the first time, homes on both Kiawah and Seabrook Islands will be featured on the Charleston Symphony Orchestra League’s (CSOL) 16th Annual Symphony Tour of Homes. For the past 15 years, the Symphony Tour of Homes has been known for showcasing a wide variety of outstanding residences, each unique in its architectural and interior design, reflecting the varied interests and lifestyles of their owners, and this year is no exception. 15th Annual Charleston James Island Connector Run

Kick off the month of November in Charleston, SC at the 15th Annual Charleston James Island Connector Run! Sign up for the 10K Run & Fun Bike Ride of the 5K Run & Walk! Both runs start at Cannon Park near the corner of Ashley Ave. and Bennett St. Pre-race activities will take place at Cannon Park. The post-race festival will also be held at Cannon Park and includes food, water, beer and a band. 20th Running of the Charleston Cup

The 20th running of the Charleston Cup will take place at The Plantation at Stono Ferry on Sunday, November 10, 2013. Started by the South Carolina Jockey Club, the Charleston Cup is much more than just a horse race. The Cup is the social event of the season – and definitely not to be missed! You don’t have to be a “horse person” to enjoy all the Charleston Cup has to offer. The race weekend kicks off with the elegant black-tie Race Ball on Friday. Live music, fabulous food and a special race preview combine to make this gala party an essential element in the total Cup experience. Sunday morning, the real excitement begins as the nation’s top riders, trainers, and owners prepare to compete for purses totaling $50,000. Over 16,000 spectators will enjoy a full day at the races with exciting steeplechase and flat races. Charleston Classic
November 21 - 24, 2013
The 2013 Charleston Classic will be held November 21, 22 and 24, at TD Arena in Charleston, SC. The sixth annual event features an eight-team field, including UAB, Clemson, Davidson, Georgia, UMass, Nebraska, New Mexico and Temple. The Charleston Classic will feature a bracket format with 12 games over three days. Each team will compete in one game per day, advancing through the bracket. The two teams that remain undefeated throughout will face off in a championship game on the final day of competition. Call 843-953-2632 for more information.

Blackwater Ukelele Festival

The Blackwater Ukelele Festival will be held at Cypress Gardens. The festival is put on by local ukulele enthusiasts. They kick the festival off with a workshop appropriate for the beginner through intermediate players. A free concert will be put on by the Charleston Hot Shots, a "Skiffle" band and The V-Tones, a unique ukulele swing band. Another unique feature is the Boat Jams, where ukulele players man the Bateau boats, 10-12 to a boat, and are rowed around the swamp singing and jamming together. Even the non-ukulele playing visitors to the park get a real kick out of it.
