2014 Race The Landing

Bob James, Nathan East, Harvey Mason and Chuck Loeb - The Fourplay story begins in 1990, with keyboardist Bob James, who had already established himself as a formidable figure in keyboard jazz – not just as an instrumentalist but as a composer and arranger as well – with solo recordings dating as far back as the mid 1960s. In 1990, James reunited with his old friend, session drummer, producer, composer & recording artist Harvey Mason (Herbie Hancock, Barbra Streisand, Notorious B.I.G.), during the recording of James’ Grand Piano Canyon album. The Grand Piano Canyon sessions marked the genesis of the group that eventually came to be known as Fourplay. The Head and The Heart

It wasn't that long ago that the members of Seattle's The Head and the Heart were busking on street corners, strumming their acoustic guitars, stomping their feet and singing in harmony as they attempted to attract the attention of passersby. That unbridled energy informed their earliest original material, which was honed in local clubs before eventually being captured on the band's 2011 debut album for hometown label Sub Pop. Then, something unexpected happened. That music began to reach audiences all over the United States and the rest of the world, and The Head and the Heart went from playing open mic nights to selling out headlining shows in prestigious venues. Charleston Bed Race

Charleston Cruises
Charleston Harbor Tours will be hosting several exciting themed cruises during the month of June 2012. If you are interested in mysteries, join them for their Murder Mystery Cruise aboard the Carolina Queen. The year is 1920 and you are one of the honored few, hand-selected by Andrew Wheeler himself, to attend the grand re-opening of your favorite speakeasy, Old Hickory. That pesky 18th amendment may have closed the doors to the onshore location, but it has not outplayed your host. Join Charleston Harbor Tours on June 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2012 for this exciting Charleston event. Charleston Harbor Tours is also offering a Blues & BBQ Harbor Cruise this month. Live Music in Charleston

Performing Arts
Hay Fever is a festival favorite at Spoleto Festival USA. Dublin's inimitable Gate Theatre returns to Charleston with this delicious send-up of bohemian eccentrics that has been called 'one of the most perfectly engineered comedies of the century' by The Times (London).
